Riding a bike in New York is dangerous. It is not an abstract danger as memorials like the above show us daily. I think this is a shame. New York could improve its overall quality of life considerably, if only it was more bike-friendly. The city would be ideal – there are little hills, the distances are perfect for biking and if only bikers had more real bike lanes, using a bike would be the healthiest, quickest and most convenient way to get around in the city.
