I think this depends on the test. I have seen the result be there in as little as 24hours and I have seen examples where the test took more than 2 weeks to come back with results.

Which organisation are we talking about? And is there an e-recruitment system you used? Processes can really take a long time. So sadly Aug 2017 is still credible…

    Hi all,

I honestly don’t really know what is behind this – anybody from the UN on the inside that could help out here? What is going on?

    Thanks everyone!

    Hi there,

LICA8 is typically similar to a NO-A. So a professional national position. I don’t currently have the salary scale for Sudan handy but NO-A is a good benchmark.

Did you find the job on the UNOPS website? There should be a duration. It often is one-year renewable but check on the website…

On the other items I don’t really know.

    Good luck!

Hi DArt – I think that sadly, the 6 months is not yet out of the norm. I would give it more time, especially if we are talking about UN Secretariat vacancies…

Good luck and please do let us know how things are going for you!

    Hi there,

sadly, I don’t think this guarantees an interview. I still think this is great news – and congrats on completing this stage well but I would be surprised if it is an automatic guarantee for an interview as there may be a lot of people that complete this stage.

However, all the best, good luck and please do let us know when you hear from them again – let’s share with everyone else how this process continues…

I think the roster should state the requirements. If you meet all the requirements, I don’t see why you should not be eligible to apply for that roster. Some organisations have certain time-in-post requirements before you can move. But in principle that shouldn’t prevent you from being on a roster.

The other way round should not be a problem either. If you are already on a G6 roster, I don’t see any problem applying for G4. There should not be any impact.

    Good luck!

    Hi Anja,

you can sign-up for as many newsletters as you want. Just make sure you do that one at a time. So sign-up for one, confirm the e-mail. Sign-up for the next, confirm the e-mail and so on – that should not be a problem at all.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Pedro & good luck!

In fact, I received another success story via e-mail and wanted to share it here:

Dear Sebastian, Thank you for this service, which I have referred colleagues to many times. I was with [UN Organisation] in [Europe] for years, then found my new, current job with [different UN Organisation] in [Asia] through the UN job list! Thanks!

Keep these news coming – we all need some good news these days 🙂

Hey FSA & Adam – sorry to hear! I really hope you both are more lucky next time!

Any other applications you have running right now?

Congratulations and best of luck from my end, too!

Quick question: would you mind sharing your success story? I think it would help everyone if you could describe briefly when you applied, how long it took until the test, the interview and then from the interview to the offer? When will you start?

Thanks again for letting us all know and keep us posted how things are going from here!

    Best, Sebastian

Great! I think you are doing it exactly right! I would also consider consultant positions if I was you and your priority is the UN, I would also consider (higher paid) consulting contracts: they are often times easier to attain and may be able to put you in the “right place in the hierarchy”. P2s are really more entry level positions and I’m uncertain if you would like that kind of work.

But in general: keep doing what you do! That’s the way to inch closer and you are starting to build-up experience.

    Good luck!

    Hello,

I think that is a difficult situation. First I would encourage you to keep applying. And second, I think the idea of broadening your profile by getting some hands-on experience is not a bad idea at all. Many of the big 5 have corporate volunteering agreements and “lend out” their employees for pro-bono consulting/work to UN organisations. Maybe something like this could be an alternative for you?
Otherwise, maybe UN Volunteers is a good way to start? The issue is: if you really have managerial experience and expectations of a job, I’m hesitant to recommend you apply to a GS position.

So what is your arrangement now? Are you volunteering or are you working against a salary?

Sorry to say this seems to be a SCAM. DESA needs to go through the UN careers portal and does not do email based interviews.

    http://www.un.org/en/sections/about-website/fraud-alert/index.html

The site is not registered to the UN but a private individual:

    https://www.whois.com/whois/un-desa.org

Stay alert, don’t share personal information and beware…
