The top 10 “most wanted” UN organisations on the UN Job List

With the introduction of the interest indicators for jobs a few weeks ago, not only applicants have the ability to see what kind of interest there is for a job, but also I can now see which UN organisations are the “most wanted”.

I did a quick and dirty calculation and these are the top 10 organisations and number of views on all their active vacancies on the UN Job List over the past days:

  1. UNDP – 2561 views
  2. UNICEF – 2309 views
  3. UNOPS – 1661 views
  4. WHO – 1257 views
  5. FAO – 1110 views
  6. UNEP – 734 views
  7. IFC – 729 views
  8. IMF – 713 views
  9. UNON – 570 views
  10. World Bank – 539 views

Of course these are just very initial figures. I will work on getting them down to a “views per day per vacancy” figure to eliminate influences like duration of posting (which is very short for UNDP and thus means fewer views), number of vacancies (where UNDP gains views) so that you have a good indicators which organisation’s UN jobs are most wanted.

If you have ideas for analysis you would like to see, please leave them in the comments below – thanks!

  1. Sebastian,

Firstly, I wanted to thank you, on behalf of all of us, for putting together such a great resource on UN jobs.

My next question relates to recruitment (the post-application process..) for a position with the first UN entity in the list above, the UNDP.

Thanks to your job site, I believe that I have been selected for an FTA position – however my candidacy has now been sent from the Country Office to HQ for the Compliance Review Board process. Do you have any experience with this, and know how long it takes?

  2. Congrats – that sounds like you’re almost done 😉 From what I hear from people, it should normally not take all that long (from a few days to a few weeks) – but the best thing is to ask UNDP directly, will will know 🙂

  3. Hi Sebastian,

I applied for a UN job in December and they emailed me sometime in February saying that they are in the process of designing the test questions and they would send me the test but did not know when. I have not heard from them since. Was this legit? and how long does it take to get hired by the UN? The job status of that particular job in my UN account says that ” candidates are under consideration”. I am so worn out of checking my email for the test. Any information will help. Thanks for the good work!
