In Rasht Valley, Tajikistan

The Little Peacekeeper is indeed in Rasht Valley in Tajikistan. Both Christoph and Stewi were absolutely right and the Little Peacekeeper is very impressed you found out where he is. On the picture, you can see him with the board describing the UNDP project he is visiting and you can also observe him sit on a piece of project equipment. Do you have any idea what the project could be about?

Honoring those who serve

Today, May 29th, marks the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. And the Little Peacekeeper is honoring those who serve. On the picture you can see the Little Peacekeeper in the lobby of the UN building standing in silence, remembering those who have fallen in the cause of peace. The official UN Peacekeeping website has more information about the international day of the Peacekeeper: http://www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/operations/pkday.shtml

The Little Peacekeeper on the Viking 11 Exercise

The Little Peacekeeper has been taken along by a good friend onto the Viking 11 Exercise. To learn about the Exercise, have a look here: http://unjl.org/viking11.

A principal objective of Viking 11 was to provide the opportunity to acquire hands-on practical skills and knowledge of civil-military-police coordination and cooperation during a multifunctional and multinational UN mandated Peace Operations. The Little Peacekeeper met many very interesting friends and colleagues in the exercise. On the pictures you can see the Little Peacekeeper with the UNAMIB Military Liaison Officers and the DSRSG/RC/HC.

World Malaria Day

On any regular post you see the Little Peacekeeper working, traveling or enjoying his spare time and he is always awake. On this photo you see him sleeping and aside from his soft pillow and the cool blanket you will notice the mosquito net. The net of course is to protect the Little Peacekeeper from Malaria. So you don’t need to worry about him, he is safe. But there are still many Malaria affected people out there, so if you are in the US, help Nothing But Nets http://www.nothingbutnets.net/ – a UN Foundation powered initiative to help in the fight against Malaria.
