Hi You sucessful candidates!
Do you mind sharing your UN target staff level (P2, P3, etc) and your experience + education? So we could have an ideia if there is somekind of logic in the recruitment process.
I could give you an example:
Target: P2 and P3 levels
Professional experience: 7+ years
Education: Masters complete / PhD in ProgressSNS
First of all I’m genuinely happy for you!! Well done !
By sharing your experience you gave us hope, and that will motivate us on pursuing our objectives!
I’d like to know, some points about your sucessful path:
1. How long was the window between the last day of applications and the written assessment?
2. Did you apply in the beginning, middle or in the end of the window time for the application?
3. Did you get any insights or tips at the interview that you felt that you would be THE ONE?I imagine things are crazy with the arrangements, but please, answer me when you can!
Best of luck and congratulations, once again!
Hi NK !
Thank you a lot for your reply!
I wonder if being a State Government Military member would be a down side for the selection process. I understood all of this bureaucracy but I’m prepared to leave the Government if UN give me an offer.
I thought this question was regarding work experience, like, being a civil servant would be like half way to work at teh UN…
Let’s see!
Concluding, do you think I have less chances of getting an offer because I currently work at a military (Gov.) organization?
Thank you once again!
Mr. Sebastian and dear friends.
I’ve noticed that some UN organisations always ask the following thing during the screening process regarding the professional work experience:
“IS THAT A CIVIL SERVANT POSITION AT YOUR GOVERNMENT ?”
I wonder if there is a right or wrong answer to that…
If the position is indeed a civil servant position at my local government, is that a good thing? Or there somekind of agreement that UN cannot hire civil servants??
I really appreciate your help as I’m in the middle of a job application!
Cheers!
Have a nice week you all!
Hi Mr. Sebastian,
How are you doing?!
My question this time is about a temporary position 9p4) at OCHA.
What is the probability of getting a renew on the 6 months contract (estimated for this vacancy) or even getting an upgrade for a fixed term ? I would be useful or even worth to abandon a job that I already have for this temp. vacancy?
Please, share your thoughts!
Best regards,
Be The Change
Hi Adam! How are you holding up? Any news??
Mr. Sebastian and dear fellows,
Last week I found a Job post that the deadline was almost closing (2 hours to close the application window). I’ve applied. to the job position. My question is: What is the likelihood of being put out of the process due to my late application?
Thank you Mr. Rottmair! Thanks to you!
Hi Adam!
I’ve never heard of this “submittive” test! I thought we would straight into the interview process! Could you tell me more about it?Do you know more people that is in the run as well? Do you think we might be out of the run because of the time (since November)?
Yay!!! We are in the same job run mate!
I hope we both could get into those 2 vacancies!!
If you get any update or know somebody who gets one (Do you already know?), please, let’s tell each other!!!
It’s been a while already…we’ve waited a lot from May to November…and Since that, no news at all…
No! It’s a vacancy for a security post P2 in New York… Btw..still no updates..
Hi Adam and Everyone else!
That’s good mate! Well, I haven’t received any updates on that… I don’t know what to think… By the way, is your test for a P2 post in New York (2 vacancies?!) – Security Area ?
Hi Gerula,
I don’t have a clue about your situation, I’m sorry.. Maybe Mr. Rottmair can help you. Is there any possibility of expand the search? Maybe your job is hidden in the list..
By the way, how long does it took from the day you did the test assessment to the day you received the news that you were sucessful ?
Thank you!
Dear Mr. Rottmair,
I constantly encounter the folowwing statement on Job Lists:
“This vacancy is subject to availability of post. Availability of the post is subject to approval by the General Assembly. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds. ”
Could you give me your interpretation to that?
Does it mean that the appointment might not be constantly renewed? How often does a GA cancel a post? “How common” is a post to be cancelled due to lack of financial resources?Thank you very much indeed!!!
